2nd grade of 24h programmer competition called hackathon was held by AT&T in collaboration with Czech Telecommunication Office at Holiday Inn, Brno during 7th to 8th April. Winners valued at approximately USD$20,000. During this V4 hackathon (#V4Hack2017) 21 teams formed, 21 applications in following categories.
Competition categories
» Smart Cities: Help cities use technology to better serve their citizens. Areas could include first responders, public health, public safety, security, traffic and transportation.
» Healthcare: Allow physicians, medical administrators, or home providers to improve care experiences through automation of common tasks needed to provide medical or rehabilitative care.
» Sustainability: Bring automation to efforts that enable meaningful social and environmental benefits. From connecting students or classrooms to helping preserve natural resources.
» Home: Create home automation solutions elated to security, child or senior safety, or real-time monitoring.
Winners
1st Place: ‘Red Panda’ won Grand Price US$10,000 for an app that uses a wearable device to detect emergencies.
2nd Place: ‘We Love Beer’ for an app that provides a social network for electrical vehicle charging stations at home. The team won US$2,000.
3rd Place: Team ‘Broken’ for an app that uses sensors on street lights to detect traffic flows and save energy. The team won US$1,000.
Best Use of Open Source: The ‘Binary Trio’ for an app that helps prevent skin cancer. They won US$1,000.
In addition, 5 contestants also each received US$2,000 worth of online Nanodegree courses from AT&T and Udacity.
